Laura Johnson

Laura is a Senior Director with over two and a half decades of advisory, accounting, finance, and performance improvement experience with companies ranging from small to mid-sized privately held companies to large international publicly traded companies. Her expertise includes providing streamlined solutions to reduce manual efforts, automate processes, selecting and implementing systems, and ensuring reliable and repeatable outcomes. She is a highly motived results-driven and action-oriented self-starter with solid technical accounting and computer skills.

Before joining Accordion, Laura spent over a decade working in corporate finance and accounting roles focusing on budgeting, forecasting, cost management, management reporting, cash flow forecasting, external financial reporting, key performance metrics, process improvement, automation, and performance management.  She has extensive experience leading organizations through improved operations and financial performance including business process optimization and reengineering

Laura started her career in litigation consulting with Freeman & Mills, but after receiving her Master’s in Accounting, she transitioned to the Big 4 audit practices of Deloitte and PwC where she was responsible for performing audits, supervising staff, drafting financial statements, reviewing financial transactions, and managing initial public offering engagements. After public accounting, Laura served in various finance and accounting roles under the office of the CFO including Finance Manager at American Express, Corporate Controller at Microsemi Corporation and Heartland School Solutions, and VP Corporate Controller at Nextiva.  She has experience in both privately held and publicly traded companies in the technology, software, telecommunications, financial services, and consulting industries. Laura was a key member of the senior leadership team providing strategic guidance and direction while also being hands on with her team performing daily financial operations tasks and providing technical guidance and training.

Laura is a Certified Public Accountant who graduated with honors from the University of Southern California with a B.S. in Finance and Master’s in Accounting. She also completed the Semester at Sea program during her undergraduate studies and attended the Executive Program in Women’s Leadership at Stanford University Graduate School of Business.
